DECLAMATION COMPETITION

Declamation:
This event will serve as an ideal platform for all those speakers who have got the expression of words with speaking skills in a manner that can make listeners lie inside their own penitentiaries. It aims to provide the fresh sensation to soul of awakening brought by the whole event. 
We look forward to host the best speakers from across the country and making this a memorable event for both the participants and the viewers. Sway us with your analytical abilities, rhetorical skills and persuasive mannerisms.

Rules and Regulations:

Theme:

  • For the initial round, the speakers are free to choose from the list of topics provided to them.
  • The topics for the final round shall be announced at the end of the preliminary round.

Format:

Inital round will take place at 13th feb,2010.

Four teams and four individual speakers *(2 english and 2 urdu) will be selected for final round after initial round.

*No. of teams and individuals may be changed depending on jury.

Time Duration:

      A speaker may speak for a minimum of 3 minutes and a maximum of 5 minutes in the final round. Marks will be deducted if the team fails to follow the time limit.

Content Limit

  • One of the speakers from each team is supposed to speak on a humorous topic while the other will debate on a serious topic.

  • Paper-reading is not allowed. The speaker, violating this rule, shall stand disqualified.

Prize

  • The prize money of Rs.30,000 will be distributed among the promising candidates, at the end of the competition.

Eligibility:

  • The competition is open to the candidates who are the registered students of invited institutions.

  • Each College / Institute shall be represented by a team of two speakers; of whom one should debate in English while the other in Urdu.

              A single member team will not be allowed to represent an institution.
Registration fee for the event is PKR 1000/- for one person, that is PKR 2000/- PER TEAM.

Jury :

  • The Jury shall be composed of independent experts, including in the field of intellectual property.
  • The Jury will serve till the official announcement of results of the essay and creative writing competition.
  • The composition of the Jury may be changed any time, if circumstances so require.

Jury Functions:

Judgment will be done team wise and the entire team will qualify for the next round, not just a single member.

The Jury reserves the right not to award the prize if, in its opinion, none of the writings merit award.

Final Decision:          
The decision of the Jury is final and is not subject to an appeal.

Announcement of Results:
The Jury shall conclude its selection process and communicate the results to the competition officials by 15th Feb,2010.

Note:

  • Students found with any sort of written material or using mobile will be disqualified from the competition
  • The speakers should refrain from passing any offensive or indecent remarks against renowned personalities, politicians, religious sects, countries and other participants of the Declamation Contest. Violation of this rule shall lead to disqualification of the speaker from the competition.
  • Each speaker should address the Chair.
  • The Host speakers will open the floor for Declamation but will not compete for any prize.
