PAINTING COMPETITION

Purpose/Objectives:
To provide a platform where the youth of today can reproduce their artistic talents by displaying creations from deep within.

Theme:
Participants are given three themes from which they can choose from.
These are:

  1. Concept Art
  2. Renaissance
  3. Sykadellac

Eligibility:
The competition is open to students who are enrolled to the invited institutions only.
Participating artists may only work individually or in teams of two as preferred.
A maximum of “six” participants are allowed from each institution. They can participate individually choosing one of the three themes or in teams of two.
One institution will be allowed one registry (May it be team or individual) in one theme.

Fee:
Registration fee for the event is PKR 1500/per person.

Event date:
Participants will be allowed to let their minds wander in world of colors for two days.
Part of this event will be carried out from 13th to 14th Feb,2010.
 Paintings will be displayed for exhibition on 15th Feb,2010.

 

Time Duration:
Participants will have to wrap-up their art-work within time allowed in initial two days. Once the allotted time has lapsed, the artwork will be collected and judged.

Medium Limit:
There’s no medium restriction. Participants are allowed to utilize all mediums under the themes mentioned.
Basic mediums include Charcoal, Pencil, Oil pastel, Oil paints, Water based Colors, Crayons etc. Though participants are allowed to come up with their own ideas.

Material:
Canvases and Scholar Sheets of 2'*3' will be provided. While the scholar sheets can be cut to a smaller dimension, participants wanting to use smaller canvases will have to bring their own.
The organizing body will provide canvases, scholar sheets ,palettes, drawing board and stand.
All other material such as paints, brushes, pencils, charcoal, pastels etc are to be brought by the participant.

Important Guidelines:

  1. Participants must choose one of the above three themes as a starting point for their piece.
  2. Title of the art-work must be there & should be written on the back of the picture with participant's name & institution’s name.
  3. Participants must refrain from portraying nudity or any obscenity that goes against FAST guidelines for decency.

Prize
There’ll be prize money of total Rs. 20,000 with a winner in each category separately.

Jury
The Jury shall be composed of independent experts, including in the field of intellectual property.
The Jury will serve until the official announcement of results of the painting competition.
The composition of the Jury may be changed at any time, if circumstances so require.

Jury Functions
The Jury will review the entries and select the best painting, in each category on the basis of originality of thought, understanding of intellectual property and relevance to the theme of competition.
The Jury reserves the right not to award the prize if, in its opinion, none of the painting merit award.
The Jury shall conclude its selection process and communicate the results to the competition officials by 13th Feb,2010.

Final Decision:      
The decision of the Jury is final and is not subject to an appeal.

Announcement of Results:

Results will be announced on 15th Feb,2010 after 12 P.M.
